Strike by Volotea pilots planned for September 4 to 6, disruptions expected in France

A new mobilization of cockpit professionals could disrupt your plane journeys at the end of the week. From Friday September 4 to Sunday September 6, the Spanish airline Volotea, which connects dozens of French and European cities at low cost, could see a good part of its flight plan disrupted in France.

At the end of last week, in fact, the national union of airline pilots (SNPL), with the Union of Civil Aviation Navigants (Unac), called on Volotea pilots to stop work during the first weekend of September. At issue: the “few concrete developments” made to the “legitimate social demands” of the pilots of the low-cost airline, according to the SNPL press release.

Dozens of destinations affected

The majority union of pilots based in France denounces in particular "the difficult working conditions" of the company's cabin crew, as well as their "level of remuneration among the lowest on the market". “The failure of these negotiations is the sole responsibility of the company's management,” scathes the press release, which denounces in particular the “increases of 23% on average” that the group's management would have granted itself.

Specializing in serving medium-sized and regional cities in Europe, Volotea connects 110 destinations across 17 countries on the continent. In France, Volotea occupies a major position, it is even its first market, with around thirty destinations, including Lyon, Marseille, Lille, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Nantes.
