GTA 5 Android Project Blocked by Take-Two

The dream of running GTA 5 natively on Android has officially ended with the intervention of Take-Two Interactive. The long-awaited unofficial GTA V Android port project, carried out by Paralympics Productions, was stopped after the company sent a cease-and-desist letter. Project leader Mojso announced that all development activities will be terminated as of October 2026 and a mobile-optimized version of the game will never be released. This development completely eliminated the game's hopes of working locally on both Android and Nintendo Switch.

The Paralympics Productions team has been working for a long time to adapt the GTA V game to the ARM architecture. However, there were strong suspicions that leaked source codes belonging to Take-Two Interactive were used at the basis of this project. The company's lawyers took quick action to protect intellectual property rights and restricted all activities of the development team by legal means. In a farewell message, the developers stated that they were grateful for Take-Two's attitude in this process and apologized for not being able to meet the expectations of the fans.

This decision once again highlighted the difficulties faced by efforts to run AAA-quality games natively on mobile platforms. A native GTA V Android version aimed to take full advantage of the device hardware; But with the ban of the project, users were forced to use more indirect methods to enjoy the game. The emulation layers currently available to players are far from reaching the level of optimization that a native port can offer.

In the absence of an official port, the only way to play GTA V for Android users remains cloud gaming services or third-party emulation software. However, these methods generally cannot provide an original experience due to high internet speed requirements or hardware limitations. The cancellation of the development team's planned works for Nintendo Switch within the scope of the same warning letter proved once again how strict Take-Two takes against all initiatives other than its own platforms.
