Next-generation Tesla Roadster show postponed due to severe weather

The highly anticipated new generation Tesla Roadster show, which was planned to be held on October 1, was postponed to October 15 due to the severe weather conditions expected to hit the central part of Texas. This development was the latest in a long series of delays in the Roadster project, which turned into a snake story.

STATEMENT FROM TESLA

Shortly after warning the guests about a possible cancellation, Tesla confirmed this mandatory change by making an official statement on social media with the following statements:

"We have been monitoring the weather closely with local meteorologists, but due to the severe weather forecast and the fact that this event can only be held outdoors, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the event. The new date is October 15."

The company stated that additional details about the event will be shared in the coming days. The new event date falls on a Thursday, exactly two weeks after the original planning.

SPACEX WILL HOLD IN THE AIR WITH ITS PROPELLERS

This magnificent presentation, which the automobile world has been eagerly awaiting, is planned to be held at the SpaceX rocket test site in McGregor, near Waco, Texas. The most talked about aspect of the event is that the wheels of the vehicle will literally be removed from the ground.

According to the plan, the Roadster will be suspended in the air using "cold gas thruster" systems developed by SpaceX. As part of security measures, no one will be in the vehicle during the show and the audience will be kept at a safe distance of several hundred meters.

TWO WEEKS POSTPONEMENT

When the weather forecasts are examined, it seems that Tesla is not wrong in taking precautions. According to Open-Meteo data, 82 percent of heavy rain, thunderstorms, winds of up to 48 kilometers per hour and over 10 centimeters of rain are expected in the McGregor region on Thursday.

According to meteorological data, these bad weather conditions will not last long. Although the chance of precipitation on Friday remains at 81 percent, the amount of precipitation and wind speed are halved. While the chance of precipitation decreased to 53 percent on Saturday, it is expected that the region will dry completely as of Sunday and there will be no precipitation between 5-7 October.

Although the storm would pass within a few days, it was noteworthy that Tesla chose to postpone the event until exactly two weeks later.

THE NEVER-ENDING ROADSTER WAIT

The schedule for the next-generation Roadster has changed so much that it's becoming increasingly difficult to keep the chronology of the process correct. The "flight" demonstration of the vehicle, whose prototype was first introduced in November 2017 and was promised to enter production in 2020, has been postponed many times.

The calendars had previously marked the end of 2025, April 1, 2026, the end of April, May, August and finally October 1. Now all eyes are on October 15th.
