Hesse's Interior Ministry has banned the association "Palestine e.V." because of anti-Semitic propaganda. In the context of the ban, five properties in Hesse and another in Baden-Württemberg were searched on Tuesday morning, the ministry announced. 35 officers from the Frankfurt Police Headquarters, the Hessian Operations Headquarters and the State Criminal Police Office were involved.

With anti-Semitic propaganda, the association had exceeded the limits of permissible political expression, the ministry explained in justifying the move. The association's activities were aimed at "spreading anti-Semitic enemy images, deepening social tensions and sustainably impairing the idea of ​​international understanding."

According to the ministry, the purpose and activities of the association were directed against the constitutional order and against the idea of ​​international understanding. The ban was preceded by administrative court proceedings.

“A clear signal against the rise of anti-Semitism”

"By banning the 'Palestine e.V.' association, Hesse is sending a clear signal for the resolute action of the constitutional state and against the rise of anti-Semitism," explained Hesse's Interior Minister Roman Poseck (CDU). The security of Jewish life in Hesse is not negotiable. The security authorities are already doing everything they can to protect Jewish citizens as best as possible, including using video surveillance. “We will continue to take consistent action against anti-Semitic, extremist and anti-constitutional efforts in the future,” said Poseck.

According to the ministry, the ban was preceded by extensive investigations. There had already been searches of board members and leading members in January 2025. The evaluation of public statements, events and publications showed that the association had spread anti-Semitic positions for a long time and disputed Israel's right to exist. Especially after Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, the group appeared more publicly and supported the attack. According to the ministry, a self-dissolution announced via social media in November 2024 did not change this. With the ban, the club structures will be dissolved and assets confiscated.
