40-year-old man arrested for attacking, threatening and extorting elderly mother in Nova Venécia

A 40-year-old man was arrested for attacking, threatening and extorting his own mother, a 69-year-old woman, on Tuesday morning (8). The victim and her son lived in the Filomena neighborhood, in Nova Venécia, in the northwest of Espírito Santo.

The Military Police were called by the elderly woman herself after being attacked with kicks. During the incident, police discovered that the man demanded money from his mother to buy drugs. He also threatened to kill his wife and stepfather if they reported the crimes.

The police went to the family's house after a complaint and, with the elderly woman's permission, the police entered the place and detained the son.

He was taken to the 17th Regional Police Station of Nova Venécia, where he was charged with the crimes of bodily harm, threat and extortion, in the context of the Maria da Penha Law.

After legal procedures and a forensic examination, the suspect was sent to the prison system. He remains at the disposal of the Court.

The names of those involved were not released to protect the victim's identity.
