Man arrested after 27 years for qualified homicide in Ibitirama

According to the Civil Police, investigations began when inconsistencies were found in the data of a man wanted for a qualified homicide that occurred on November 2, 1996, in Ibitirama, in the same region.

Initially, the arrest warrant indicated the name of Antônio Neres Madeira, son of Thereza Cosaquevite Madeira and Gerônimo Neres.

However, database searches showed that the woman nominated was, in fact, the mother of Antônio Carlos Madeira. His date of birth and other information were also compatible with the data collected by the police.

The investigators then rechecked the information from the court case and came across the name of Antônio Carlos Madeira's son, called Fábio Júnior. The relationship was confirmed based on the name of Fábio's mother.

After confirming the identity, the Civil Police found the wanted man's current address and he was arrested. When taken to the Ibatiba Police Station, he confessed to being responsible for the murder. However, the police did not release details about the crime that occurred in 1996.

During the interrogation, Antônio confirmed that he did not have the paternal surname “Neres”, clarifying the discrepancy between the name that appeared on the old warrant and his true identity.
