Truck overturns on wooden bridge in Bonito and causes death of animals

Images taken after the accident show the truck at the scene and the structure destroyed. According to Deputy Euro, from the Fire Department, responding to the incident lasted around 1h30. To remove the animals, it was necessary to cut part of the truck's cage.

According to the firefighter, some animals drowned after becoming trapped under other oxen. The truck driver and the cargo owner provided support during the service.

According to the mayor of Bonito, Josmail Rodrigues, the road has little movement and the structure was inaugurated in 2022.

According to him, the bridge already had restrictions on the passage of heavy trucks and was due for review. He also stated that the wood used in construction was of low quality.

According to the mayor, a new bridge will be built at the site, but the work is expected to take place only in 2027. The date has not yet been defined, as the project needs to go through a bidding process, which, according to him, is time-consuming.
