Military Police corporal Rayllan Machado Carino was shot dead this Monday (14) in the center of São Gonçalo. The agent was off duty.
Security cameras recorded the attack, which caused panic among pedestrians. One of the 3 criminals continued shooting even with the victim lying on the ground.
The Homicide Department is investigating the case. The police officer had already survived another attempted murder in September last year in the same city.
Images from security cameras recorded the moment when Military Police corporal Rayllan Machado Carino, aged 36, was shot to death on Monday afternoon (14), in the center of São Gonçalo, in the Metropolitan Region of Rio. He had already suffered an attempted execution in 2025.
The recordings show the officer crossing a busy street shortly after 3:20 p.m. At one point, he appears walking while apparently using his cell phone. Seconds later, a car stops on the road and criminals get out shooting.
Rayllan is hit and falls to the ground. The images show that one of the bandits continues to fire even after the police officer is already down. The attack causes panic among pedestrians, drivers and traders who were in the region.
One of the scenes recorded by the cameras shows people running in different directions to try to escape the gunfire. A motorcycle courier who was stopped on a motorcycle abandons the vehicle, drops the motorcycle and crawls across the asphalt in search of protection.
The shots also appear to hit a second person who was close to the officer at the time of the attack. One of the shots even hits the window of a cell phone store.
The images also reveal moments of tension experienced by those passing through the street. A mother walking with a child in a stroller had removed the girl from the seat seconds before the shooting began.
At another point in the scene, a woman who was between the criminals and the police officer is trapped next to a pole during the attack.
After the execution, the criminals return to the vehicle and flee the scene. According to witnesses, 3 men participated in the crime.
The soldier was rescued and taken to the São Gonçalo Emergency Room, but he did not survive his injuries.
According to the Military Police, agents from the 7th BPM (São Gonçalo) were called to an attempted murder incident. When they arrived at the scene, they found the victim shot. It was later confirmed that he was a military police officer who was off duty.
After the crime, the perpetrators fled towards the Niterói-Manilha Highway.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the case is being investigated by the Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Homicide Police Station (DHNSG). The Military Police command lamented the agent's death.
This was not the first time that Rayllan was targeted by criminals. In September last year, the police officer suffered an attempted murder in the Barro Vermelho neighborhood, also in São Gonçalo.
At the time, he was shot, taken to the Alberto Torres State Hospital and underwent surgery. After treatment, he was medically discharged.
Until the last update of this report, there was no information about the corporal's wake and burial.
