İmamoğlu completed his defense

The 101st hearing of the case filed against the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality on allegations of corruption was held. Ekrem İmamoğlu, who was suspended from his post as the President of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality after being arrested on March 23, 2025, finished his defense that he started on October 14.

While making political criticisms, İmamoğlu explained what kind of Türkiye he dreamed of; He said that he wrote a book in his defense while he was in prison, but it was not published:

"I brought the model of my unpublished book. There is no bomb in this book, there is this file in it. What I told you is a little more abbreviated. I want it to be added to the file as evidence. Those who want to see it as evidence can see it as evidence. I want it to be added to the file. God is great, the nation is the witness, the future is near."

İmamoğlu concluded his defense as follows:

"The last word has always been said by the nation, and the nation will say it again. That word of the nation is the foundation of the Republic, sovereignty unconditionally belongs to the nation. We are Atatürk's students, we are the indomitable guardians of the Republic, we are eternal defenders of democracy. Whatever you do, the nation always has the last word, the final judgment is always given by divine justice. No one should have any doubts, justice will win, democracy will win, the Republic will win, this dear nation will win. I entrust myself not to anyone, but to my beloved nation."

The hearing will continue with the cross-examination of İmamoğlu after a break.
