Investigations into the Pietracatella case: reports from German consultants are missing

The timescales linked to the investigations into the Pietracatella murder mystery and the death of Antonella Di Ielsi and Sara Di Vita, poisoned with ricin last December in the province of Campobasso, could be extended. At the moment, in fact, no report by the German consultants of the Robert Koch Institute has been filed. This is what was communicated by the prosecutor of Larino, Elvira Antonelli. "I believe there will be requests for an extension of 30 days each no later than six months from the start date of the technical consultancy operations as required by the criminal procedure code. The activities - the prosecutor further specified - are numerous and complex".

The investigation against unknown persons and the 5 doctors under investigation

The investigation currently remains against unknown persons regarding the hypothesis of the crime of double premeditated murder. Five doctors, however, are under investigation for manslaughter in relation to the two women's admissions to hospital immediately after their illnesses during the Christmas holidays. Both Antonella Di Ielsi and her daughter Sara, in fact, had fallen ill while they were in their home last Christmas. The two had gone to the emergency room of the Cardarelli hospital in Campobasso, where they were examined and subsequently discharged. As their health conditions worsened, they returned to hospital, but between the evening of December 27th and the morning of December 28th they died a few hours apart (WHAT WE KNOW).

The lack of relationships

In fact, therefore, the reports of the German consultants from the Berlin center, a structure of global importance in the study of poisons, have not yet been filed. The delivery of part of the investigations entrusted to the German specialists in the investigation should have been delivered in these hours. ''There are currently no deposits'', confirmed Antonelli.

The task to the German experts

The Robert Koch Institute was commissioned on June 29th to investigate the aspects related to the poisoning, while the operations officially began on July 7th. The findings coming from Germany will then have to be cross-referenced with what was collected by the Campobasso mobile team: over 200 testimonies, electronic devices, finds, toxicological analyzes and autopsy results.
