The executives of three of the most important companies in the sector globally - Sam Altman of OpenAI, Dario Amodei of Anthropic and Clément Delangue of Hugging Face - spoke about the developments and risks of AI in front of the 15 members of the Council. According to Altman, "we have a choice before us. Artificial intelligence can be a new Renaissance, it can increase knowledge. On the other hand, AI can move faster than our institutions. We need attention."

“AI must be made for people”

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman explained to the UN Security Council that artificial intelligence must be created for people and must put people at the center. “You need to empower people on an individual level,” he added.

“To contain risks, collaboration between governments is needed”

"The great advances in artificial intelligence also entail great risks. The first is the improper use for the creation of biological weapons by terrorists, the second is the loss of control", said the CEO of Anthropic, Dario Amodei, before the Security Council. "We need collaboration between governments around the world," the manager said via video link, listing a series of methods to contain risks such as the creation of universal standards and global security systems. “No leader, no company and no country can face this challenge alone,” he added, stressing that “we will slow down as much as necessary” to “ensure” that AI “is safe”.
