Iranian President Pezeshkian said that there is no trust with the USA and the closure of Hormuz is a natural reaction

In his interview with Qatar-based Al Jazeera television, Pezeshkian made evaluations about the developments in the region, the negotiations between the USA and Iran, the situation of the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran's relations with the countries in the region.

Answering the question about the Mecca Defense Agreement signed between Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan, Pezeşkiyan said that the agreement could be a positive step for the unity of Muslims.

Pezeshkian said, "This is a positive step forward for the unity of Muslims." he said.

When asked whether the agreement was against Iran, Pezeşkiyan said, "This step could be a step towards Muslims sitting side by side and achieving Islamic unity instead of fighting." he replied.

"WE DO NOT TRUST NEGOTIATIONS WITH THE USA"

Iranian President Pezeshkian stated that Tehran does not trust Washington regarding negotiations with the USA.

"We have no confidence in the American side and we do not know on what basis an agreement can be reached." Pezeshkiyan emphasized that they expect the USA to clarify its stance regarding Iran's latest proposal.

Pezeshkian stated that mediators Qatar and Pakistan conveyed Iran's messages to Washington, and pointed out that the negotiations were based on the memorandum of understanding reached between the two parties in June.

"CLOSING HORMIS IS A NATURAL REACTION"

Rejecting the accusations that Iran was responsible for closing the Strait of Hormuz, Pezeshkian argued that the transit routes in Hormuz were closed against Iran. Pezeshkian described the closure of the strait as a natural reaction to the blocking of the roads in front of Iran.

The Iranian President noted that the Strait of Hormuz could be reopened to commercial ships if the war is ended through negotiations.

Pezeshkian described the USA as the aggressor of the war and stated that Iran has not attacked any country for nearly two hundred years.

"WE DO NOT NEED A REGIONAL POLICE"

Underlining that regional security can be achieved with the cooperation of regional countries, Pezeşkiyan said, "We do not need a regional police." he said.

Pezeshkian claimed that the USA and Israel are trying to gain control over the resources of the region by using the regional countries against each other, and pointed out that Saudi Arabia can play a role in ensuring the unity of the Islamic world.

"WE HAVE NO CONNECTION WITH THE ACTIONS OF THE HOUTHI"

Referring to the conflicts between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia in Yemen, Pezeshkian argued that the actions of the Houthis are not linked to Iran.

Pezeshkian called for the problems between the Houthis and Saudi Arabia to be resolved through dialogue and said, "A brother should not fight his Muslim brother." he said.

Making evaluations about the domestic political situation in Iran, Pezeshkian stated that there is an unprecedented unity and solidarity in the country and that they are working to overcome the problems accumulated in Iran's internal conditions.

Pezeshkian argued that the USA and Israel are trying to prevent Iran from becoming self-sufficient, and added that his country's people will continue to hold on to life.
