The Israeli army announced that it will expand its surveillance and attack capacity by establishing a "Space Brigade"

In his statement on the social media platform of the US-based company X, Israeli Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated that he welcomed the Israeli army's decision to establish the Space Brigade.

Katz claimed that Israel's space policy and defense power will reach the level of "Star Wars" and announced that they "aim to make Israel one of the world's leading countries in the field of space."

Claiming that it will strengthen "Israel's position as a regional and global power" as well as "the capacity to monitor and attack all targets in a wide geography from space", Katz claimed that this force will "contribute to deterring near and far enemies".

According to the news of Israel's Yediot Aharonot newspaper, the aim is to gather activities related to space technologies under a single institutional roof with the "Space Brigade" to be established within the Israeli army.

While it was stated that the brigade would operate within the framework of a military program called "Hoşen", it was stated that the Israeli army "realized that space has become a critical dimension in modern wars".

It was noted that an unnamed brigadier general was appointed as the commander of the Space Brigade and two colonels were appointed as the commanders of two units in the brigade.

The news also stated that the Israeli army decided to establish a special "Robot Brigade" in order to increase its technological capacity and combine its activities in the field of robotics, and an officer with the rank of Brigadier General was appointed as the commander of the unit.

The Israeli army has been extensively using artificial intelligence systems with a high margin of error, which has led to the death of thousands of civilians in the genocide that has been carried out in the Gaza Strip with the support of the USA since October 2023, in which more than 74 thousand Palestinians lost their lives.

Since the ceasefire came into force, 1,522 Palestinians have lost their lives and 5,421 people have been injured in Gaza due to violations by the Israeli army.
