Üner Karabıyık, President of the Istanbul Family Foundation, made an evaluation to the AA correspondent regarding children's exposure to different sexual orientation content in digital media at an early age and the problems experienced by families in this regard.
Karabıyık stated that children, whose screen time has increased, try to perform in different identities at an early age, especially in order to exist in digital media, and said that social media analyzes of the attacker profiles after the school attacks in Kahramanmaraş and Siverek confirm this.
Karabıyık said, "We saw that the attacker tried to exist with a different identity on each social media platform. This indicates an identity crisis, and these attacks are what caused this crisis." made his assessment.
Pointing out that these effects are not limited to a single medium, Karabıyık said, "These attacks come in an organized manner and as an ecosystem. There are art, sports, business world, media, culture and art industry. All of these target the identity of our children." he said.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described the media and social media as the "8th front" in December 2025 and said, "We must capture the minds and hearts of the younger generations through the media and social media." Karabıyık stated that the algorithmic structures of social media platforms cause children and young people to spend more time on screens.
Reminding that, as the Family Foundation, they discussed this issue in the "Digital Whirlpool Summit" under the auspices of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, in cooperation with the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK), Karabıyık said, "We tried to draw attention to a Bermuda Triangle that occurs in the middle of every family's living room. There are phones and tablets in one corner of this triangle, televisions in one corner, and computer screens in the other. If your family ties are weakened, the vortex of this triangle is very strong and pulls children and young people into it." "And in this identity issue, the area where the attack is most intense is LGBT lobbies." he said.
"THIS PSYCHOLOGICAL PROBLEM CAN BE OVERCOME WITH PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT"
Karabıyık stated that LGBT propaganda and imposition affects children and young people through different cultural fields, and especially targets children with movements such as cartoons, books, music industry and K-pop.
Referring to the content on digital platforms, Karabıyık said, "When you look at the content of platforms such as Netflix on digital platforms, we are exposed to LGBT propaganda in almost every production. The psychological effect caused by this propaganda appears as sexual identity confusion after a while." he said.
The main propaganda message of the LGBT lobby is "Homosexuality is a natural state and is inherent in human nature." Noting that it is, Karabıyık stated that they also determined the impact of this view on young people in the field research they conducted in 2022, and that 46.7 percent of young people in the 18-24 age group adopted this view, and said that this view contradicts scientific data.
Stating that young people are exposed to different content and environmental effects after the adoption of this view, Karabıyık said, "From the moment you accept this and internalize this propaganda, you are thrown into another area, and we see that sexual identity confusion draws young people into the vortex of the content you are exposed to in that area, the gender-bending chemicals in the foods you eat and drink, and the various influences of peers." he said.
Karabıyık stated that they provide support to young people who encounter this problem through voluntary applications made to the Family Counseling Center, and that they have offered 60 young people the opportunity to get out of this vortex so far.
Citing the process regarding Elon Musk's child as an example, Karabıyık continued as follows:
"When Elon Musk's child enters into sexual identity confusion, they apply to experts with a request to change gender, and as a result of the request, experts offer them two alternatives: 'Either he will change gender, or this psychological problem will lead him to suicide.' However, we say that the third way is possible, this psychological problem can be overcome with psychosocial support. This is where imposition comes into play. The American Psychiatric Association says, 'You cannot accept this as a disease.' The World Health Organization says, 'You cannot accept this as a disease and do nothing to treat it.' However, there are internationally accepted techniques through which you can provide psychosocial and psychological support. Our experts have received their training and have been able to achieve successful results in these cases so far with these techniques. At this point, the responsibility of families is to know that there is a way out of this and, first of all, to prevent their children from getting caught up in this whirlpool. The formula for this is to be aware of screen time and what they are exposed to on those screens. Parents' digital literacy and screen experience are also important. "Parents' screen time should be at a reasonable level and there should be no problematic screen use so that their children can also provide this."
Karabıyık said that they will implement the "Family School" project with the Ministry of National Education in order to raise awareness of families, and that if the announcements of the General Directorate of Lifelong Learning are followed, families can benefit from free training by applying to the project.
CALL FOR LEGAL REGULATION TO INCREASE THE AGE OF GENDER CHANGE TO AFTER 25 YEARS OLD
Pointing out the need for legal regulations against LGBT propaganda and imposition, Karabıyık said, "In particular, moving the age of gender change to older ages, after the age of 25, is a very critical regulation. Because the situation of those who are confused about sexual identity becomes clear only at that age. Gender change surgeries before reaching that age only bring biological and psychological problems and the results are disappointing. These regulations are urgently needed." he said.
Explaining that there is no such thing as gender change, it is gender reversal, Karabıyık stated that gender reversal surgeries are the interventions that ensure that those who are born androgynous continue their lives with the gender appropriate to their biological structure and physiological state.
Karabıyık stated that the LGBT lobby is making propaganda that gender change is possible and said, "Unfortunately, our young people think that you can be a woman when you are a man, and a man when you are a woman. No, this is just human butchery. What is happening is gender cancellation." he said.
Emphasizing that the gender change process of people who are not naturally androgynous will lead to negative consequences, Karabıyık said, "If you were not born androgynous, which is 2 to 5 in 10 thousand according to statistics, if you enter the gender change process as a result of the sexual identity confusion you fall into psychologically, both biological and psychological problems will haunt you." he said.
Stating that the solution should be sought in the field of psychology, Karabıyık added that young people and families who want to get support on this issue can apply to the Foundation's Family Counseling Center on a voluntary basis.
