Metro and tram fare system is changing in Istanbul: pricing is planned according to distance

Infrastructure work for the fare refund system has reached the final stage in order to regulate the price difference between short and long distance passengers on metro and tram lines in Istanbul. WILL THE FEE SYSTEM CHANGE IN METRO AND TRAM?

Work continues to change the current fixed fare system used on metro and tram lines in Istanbul. If the new model is implemented, the amount passengers will pay is planned to be determined according to the length of the journey.

This change is especially important for passengers making short trips of a few stops. The aim of the new application is that a passenger traveling a short distance will not pay the same fee as a passenger using a significant part of the line.

FEE REFUND ANNOUNCEMENTS WILL BE INSTALLED IN METRO AND TRAMWAYS

In order to implement the new system, it is planned to use fare refund vending machines at metro and tram stations. The aim is for passengers to receive the difference in fare after completing their journey through these devices.

HOW MUCH IS THE METRO AND TRAM FEE IN ISTANBUL?

In the current system, fixed fares are applied in metro and trams regardless of how many stops the journey takes. According to the current tariff, the full ticket is 46.20 TL, the student ticket is 22.55 TL, the ticket for students over 30 is 41.58 TL, and the social ticket is 33.08 TL.
