Activity at Mount Etna Volcano in Italy: Flights Suspended

Etna, Europe's most active volcano, located on Italy's Sicily Island, has become active again. The Italian National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (INGV) reported that the ash clouds rising from the volcano reached up to 4 kilometers.

A red alert was issued in civil aviation due to the ongoing volcanic activity in Etna, ash clouds rising to the sky and adverse weather conditions. Authorities in Catania, Sicily, announced that the C1 sector of the country's airspace was closed to flights.

In the statement made by Catania International Airport, which is the fifth busiest airport in Italy in terms of number of passengers, it was stated that all flight activities were suspended until 12:00 local time on Sunday.
