Hsieh Ka-shing broke into the Asian Games men’s K-boat single 500m final and finished 7th

[Reporter Lu Yangxuan/Comprehensive Report] 18-year-old youngster Xie Jiachengjin successfully made it to the finals in the men's K-boat single 500-meter event of the Nagoya Asian Games, and finally finished in 7th place.

Hsieh Jiacheng, who attends Nangang High School, is a much-anticipated rising star in Taiwan's light boating industry. He first started to learn light boat water polo in the sixth grade of elementary school, and then switched to light boat racing in the first grade of junior high school. He won three consecutive championships in light boat racing in the National Games. Last year, he won 1 silver and 1 bronze in the Asian Light Boat Racing Youth and U23 Championships held in Thailand last year.

Hsieh Jiacheng made his debut at the Asian Games. In the preliminaries of the K-boat 500m singles on the 24th, he clocked 1:47.511 to win the semi-finals ticket. In the semi-finals, he clocked 1:49.857, ranking 3rd among the 7 contestants. He successfully advanced to the Group A finals with a chance to compete for medals. Finally, in the final, he ranked 7th with 1:50.105. Uzbek Makhkamov (Shakhriyor) Makhkamov won the gold in 1:43.642, South Korea's Jang Sang-won won the silver in 1:44.433, and the bronze medalist was Kazakh Dmitriy Kholmogorov in 1:44.453.
