Armed attack on a lawyer in Kağıthane: 2 suspects arrested

In Istanbul's Kağıthane district, lawyer Murat K. (34) was attacked with a gun after a video call he made on the phone while sitting in a restaurant.

The incident took place in Ortabayır District. According to the information obtained, Murat K., who was sitting alone in the restaurant, went out after a while and started video chatting on his mobile phone.

According to the testimony of witnesses, Murat K. shouted during the meeting, "Either you come and shoot me or I will shoot you." Approximately 15 minutes later, the suspect in the backseat of the two people who arrived in front of the workplace on a motorcycle opened fire on Murat K.

HE WAS INJURED IN HIS ARM AND CHEST

In the armed attack, Murat K. was injured in his left arm, while abrasions occurred on his right arm and chest area.

Upon notice, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. It was learned that Murat K., who was taken to the hospital after his first aid, was conscious and his life was not in danger.

During the police investigation at the scene, 3 empty cartridges were found.

IT WAS ALLEGED THAT HE SHOUTED ON THE PHONE BEFORE THE ATTACK

Kağıthane Public Security Bureau teams started an investigation into the incident and took statements from witnesses in the area.

Business owner Nihat A. said that Murat K. came to the place shortly before the incident and while he was talking on the phone outside, an unidentified person opened fire.

Other witnesses stated that Murat K., while making a video call about 15 minutes before the incident, shouted "Either you come and shoot me or I will shoot you", and shortly afterwards, two people on motorcycles came to the front of the workplace and the person in the backseat opened fire.

It was stated that the security camera footage was also compatible with the witness accounts.

THE SUSPECTS WERE CAUGHT IN THE HOUSE THEY WERE HIDING

As a result of camera footage and field studies, the identities of the people believed to have carried out the attack were determined.

The teams determined that the suspects were hiding in a house in Gültepe District and organized an operation. When the door did not open, the police entered the house from the balcony and detained Yasin K. (22) and Yusuf K. (26).

IT WAS STATED THAT THE SUSPECTS HAD CRIMINAL RECORDS

In the police investigation, it was stated that Yusuf K. had 5 records for various crimes and that he was wanted for the crime of "possession of an unlicensed weapon".

It was reported that Yasin K. was wanted for various crimes, and it was determined that the two suspects were wanted in a total of 6 separate files.

The two suspects, who were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station, were arrested by the court and sent to prison.

In the security camera footage of the moment of the incident, it was seen that the suspects arrived in front of the workplace on a motorcycle, the person in the backseat opened fire with a gun, and they quickly moved away from the scene after the attack.
