The lawyer who was attacked with a gun in Kağıthane was injured, 2 suspects were arrested

The incident took place on Friday, September 24, 2025, at around 15:00 in Ortabayır District. According to the information obtained, lawyer Murat K., who was sitting alone in the restaurant, went out after a while and started video chatting on his mobile phone.

Murat K., who was seen shouting during the meeting, was opened fire by a black-dressed and masked suspect as he arrived in front of the workplace a short time later.

As a result of the fire, Murat K. was injured in his left arm, while abrasions occurred on his right arm and chest area. After the attack, it was learned that the injured person's life was not in danger and he was conscious, but the attacker fled the scene.

Upon notice, health and police teams were dispatched to the scene. After the first intervention of the medical teams, the injured person was taken to the hospital and treated. During the investigation at the scene, 3 empty cartridges were found. Kağıthane Public Security Bureau teams started an investigation into the incident and took statements from witnesses.

Business owner Nihat A. (60) said that Murat K. came to the venue shortly before the incident, and while he was talking on the phone outside, an unidentified person opened fire on Murat K. Other witnesses around said that Murat K., while making a video call on his mobile phone about 15 minutes before the incident, shouted 'Either you come and shoot me or I will shoot you', and that shortly after the conversation, 2 people on motorcycles arrived in front of the workplace and the person in the backseat opened fire on Murat K.. It was also learned that the security footage confirmed the witness statements.

The identities of the people who carried out the attack were determined through camera and field studies carried out by police teams. The teams, who received information that the suspects were hiding in a house in Gültepe District, carried out an operation on the house. Yasin K. (22) and Yusuf K. (26) were detained in the house, which was entered from the balcony after the door did not open.

During the investigations, it was learned that the victim, Murat K., had a total of 9 records for the crimes of 'Deliberate attempt to murder', 'Plunder', 'Threat-insult', 'Deliberate endangerment of general security', 'Using drugs', 'Resisting to avoid doing the duty', 'Deliberately wounding', 'Endangering traffic safety' and 'Damage to property'.

Yusuf K., one of the suspects, has 5 records for the crimes of 'Deliberate attempt to kill', 'Deliberate wounding', 'Violation of the firearms law', 'Using drugs' and 'Threat-insult' and is wanted for 'Possession of an unlicensed weapon'. Yasin K. is accused of 'Damage to property', 'Deliberate endangerment of general security', 'Firearms'. It was determined that he was wanted for the crimes of 'violating the law', 'intentional injury' and 'plunder', as well as 'fraud', 'drug dealing' and 'membership of an organisation'. The suspects, who were found to be wanted in 6 separate files, were referred to the courthouse after their procedures at the police station.

2 suspects were arrested by the court and sent to prison.

On the other hand, security camera footage of the moment of the incident was revealed. In the footage, it is seen that the suspects arrived on a motorcycle, the person in the backseat took out his gun and fired, lawyer Murat K. was injured, and the attackers quickly left the scene.
