Infrastructure works started at Qamishli-Nusaybin Border Gate

Syrian General Border Gates and Customs Administration International Relations and Cooperation Director Mazin Alluş stated that excavation, leveling and technical preparation works have been started at the Qamishli-Nusaybin Border Gate within the scope of works to improve the infrastructure of the border gates.

Noting that these works are a part of the comprehensive plan for the renewal and development of the infrastructure of the border gate, Alluş said that they will implement the project gradually in line with the technical and implementation programs.

Alluş said, "We are officially starting the work to build and equip this vital border gate that will connect Syria and Turkey. The gate will be the seventh border crossing point between the two countries." he said.

Stating that in the first stage, import and export cargo areas and areas reserved for transit transportation will be arranged, Alluş also stated that the border gate management building, passenger lounges, customs units and personnel housing will be built.

Alluş noted that the basic infrastructure necessary for the operation of the border gate, which will have an area of ​​approximately 558 thousand square meters, will be created.

Emphasizing that the Qamishli-Nusaybin Border Gate is an important project in terms of increasing trade volume, supporting the economy, developing transit transportation through Syria and reducing the density at existing border gates, Alluş stated that the gate will also shorten distances and transit times for citizens and transporters.

Qamishli-Nusaybin Border Gate was closed in 2012 after the civil war that started in Syria.
