Indictment for robbery worth 700 thousand dollars in the Grand Bazaar: He said he was going to China and left kitchen utensils

Striking details were included in the indictment regarding the robbery of a workplace selling foreign currency and precious metals by an employee in Istanbul's Grand Bazaar.

The incident occurred on October 4, 2025. In the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office, the business owner Tarık Er was listed as the complainant and four people, including Emre C., were listed as suspects.

According to the indictment, the owner of the workplace where six people worked handed over the key to the safe to his trusted employee, Aydın Ö., while leaving the workplace. After a while, Aydın Ö., who wanted to take leave, called the business owner and asked to whom he should leave the key. The business owner wanted the keys to be handed over to Emre C., who had been working for him for four years.

According to the statements in the indictment, Emre C. sent other employees away before closing the workplace. No one was present when the money was transferred to the cash register. In the security camera footage, which was later reviewed by the business owner, it was seen that Emre C. put the money at the cashier's counter into a black bag, then went to the kitchen and took another black bag and a water bottle.

It was stated that the suspect Emre C. disappeared after taking 699 thousand dollars, 430 thousand 758 liras and 806 euros from the safe.

When the people at work could not reach Emre C., his wife S.C. was searched. According to the indictment, S.C. said to the business owners, "You sent Emre to China." he said, explaining that his wife left home.

Suspicious of the woman's words, the business owner opened the safe using the spare key. A black bag and kitchen supplies instead of money were found in the safe.

While the investigation into the incident continues, a remarkable development took place in another investigation conducted against two suspects named Berkay T. and Furkan A. in Sakarya.

130 thousand dollars were seized in the vehicle belonging to the suspect named Berkay T. It was determined that Furkan A. was a relative of Emre C.

The two investigations were combined after it was determined that the money was part of the money taken from the employees in the Grand Bazaar.

During the search at the house of Okan C., who was among the suspicious names in the same investigation, 159 thousand 500 liras were seized.

In the indictment prepared, it was claimed that Emre C. handed over some of the money to his relative Furkan A., and that Furkan A. gave it to his friend Berkay T. because he did not want to carry the money.

It was determined that the suspects were messaging through an online war game and organizing money transfers in this way to avoid being caught.

In the indictment prepared, it was requested that the four suspects be sentenced to imprisonment from one year to 7 years each for the crime of abuse of power due to service.

The trial of the suspects is expected to begin in the coming days.
