Prosecution and temporary detention of Nguyen Thi Nhuan in the case involving Phu Le and his wife

Hanoi police have prosecuted the defendant and ordered the temporary detention of 48-year-old Nguyen Thi Nhuan for receiving money from a suspect with the promise of helping to run a case.

This afternoon, at the regular Government press conference, Major General Nguyen Quoc Toan, Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security, said this was a new development when the Hanoi City Police Investigation Agency expanded the case related to the "cybergang" couple Phu Le.

Nguyen Thi Nhuan was prosecuted and detained on August 24 for allegedly receiving money to broker a case. This act is assessed as showing signs of committing the crime of Fraudulent appropriation of property, according to Article 174 of the Penal Code.

In the case involving the Phu Le couple, to date Hanoi Police have prosecuted 13 defendants for four groups of crimes: Violating accounting regulations causing serious consequences; Illegally issuing, buying and selling invoices and documents for collection and payment to the State budget; Deceiving customers; Fraudulent appropriation of property.

Of the two people prosecuted for deceiving customers, Nguyen Thi Huong (nicknamed "teacher Huong Loramnen") and her husband were accused of making illegal profits of more than 10 billion VND.

According to the investigation, in about 6 years, Phu Kieu and his wife established 3 companies, trading in products such as cosmetics and functional foods. The product is advertised on many social networking platforms, including content that is determined to exaggerate its effectiveness to attract customers.
