On the afternoon of September 3, An Tay was sentenced by the People's Court of Ho Chi Minh City to 7 years in prison for organizing drug use, one year for illegal possession of narcotics; The total penalty is 8 years in prison.
The drugs used by An Tay and his group of friends were determined to originate from a branch of the network belonging to the VN10 case, a case with 227 defendants.
During the trial, the model admitted the crime as charged, expressed regret and hoped her mistake would be a bloody lesson for young people.
According to the case file, An Tay declared that he had used drugs since around 2020 and repeatedly bought meth from Nguyen Phuoc Bao Loc to use at home, each time from 500,000 VND to 2 million VND.
Initially, she directly contacted Loc to order. Later, An Tay mainly asked his assistant Van Anh Duy to contact him and receive the drugs. She transferred the money to Duy's account so he could pay Loc.
On November 2, 2024, An Tay provided drugs and prepared a place to use with Duy and his friend Nguyen Phuong Dong. Six days later, she continued to organize for Duy to use drugs at the apartment.
In addition, An Tay declared that he once bought marijuana and found Ketamine, "happy water" at the rented house.
Chi Dan and his brother received 7 years in prison
In the same case, singer Chi Dan (also known as Nguyen Trung Hieu) and his brother Nguyen Trung Tin, 44 years old, were each sentenced to 7 years in prison for organizing the illegal use of drugs.
The court determined that the defendants were criminally responsible for the drugs they purchased for their use. At trial, the two brothers admitted to the alleged acts.
According to records, on the morning of November 4, 2024, Chi Dan and his brother went to a house on Cong Hoa Street, then invited a group of 7 people to use drugs. A Telegram user ordered Ketamine and 3 ecstasy pills. Tin prepares drugs on a glass plate for the whole group to use.
After 5 o'clock, Chi Dan invited everyone to use two more packs of Ferrari brand "happy water". Tin ordered it for 7.1 million VND and asked his brother to transfer the money. When receiving the goods, Chi Dan mixed the drugs with soft drink, used it first, and then the rest took turns using it.
At around 9 a.m., the group continued to buy half a box of Ketamine for 2.5 million VND. Chi Dan used part of it, Tin brought the rest back and threw it on the street.
'Charity Fairy' - Truc Phuong was sentenced to 6 years in prison
Nguyen Do Truc Phuong, also known as the "Charity Fairy" was sentenced to 6 years in prison by the court; Vu Hai Anh's boyfriend was sentenced to 7 years for organizing the illegal use of drugs.
The court determined that Truc Phuong prepared laughing gas, drugs, "happy water", ecstasy and other tools for the group of friends to use at the birthday party. During the organizing process, Vu Hai Anh also participated in giving drugs to the group to use.
During the trial, Hai Anh did not admit the crime. However, the jury said that based on the testimony of Truc Phuong and other defendants, there is a basis for judging the defendant as the right person and guilty, not unjustly wronged.
In the VN10 case, the court sentenced defendant Ha Danh Nam and 10 others to the death penalty for illegally buying and selling drugs. 20 other people were sentenced to life imprisonment for illegally trading or transporting narcotics.
The remaining defendants were sentenced to one year and six months in prison, suspended to 29 years in prison, for one or a group of crimes: Illegal transportation of drugs, Illegal trading of drugs, Organizing illegal use of drugs, Illegal possession of drugs, Failure to report crimes, Concealing crimes and Illegal possession of property.
