An 18-year-old student from Douglas, Georgia, has made history by becoming the first Indian American to win the national Miss Teen USA crown. Kiran Reddy defeated 50 other contestants during the 44th annual pageant, held at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts in Miami, Florida, on 26 August 2026, according to WALB News and Pageant Circle. Reddy, who had earlier become the first Indian American to win the Miss Georgia Teen USA title, also secured Georgia’s first national victory in the pageant’s history. Her win marks a double milestone for diversity and state representation in the long-running beauty contest. Speaking after her victory, Reddy shared her emotions about taking on the prestigious title. "I am so blessed to represent Georgia and the U.S. and be the role model I always needed growing up," Reddy said, as reported by KFI AM 640. The national finals brought together contestants from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Raquel Olea of Arkansas was named first runner-up, while Elisa Akin of New York, Kiersten Alvarado of Indiana, and Chloe Bella Dietz of Texas completed the top five. The event was hosted by model Sean Michael Rae and former titleholder Noelia Voigt. Last year’s winner, Mailyn Marsh of Missouri, placed the crown on her successor. The judging panel included notable figures such as Kelsey Swanson, a former Miss Rhode Island USA.
Before gaining national attention, Reddy achieved academic success in Coffee County, Georgia. She graduated as the valedictorian of Coffee High School in Douglas. After graduating from high school, Reddy enrolled at the University of Georgia, where she is studying biological sciences on a pre-medical track. Her goal of working in healthcare has been an important part of her platform alongside her pageant career. Reddy’s journey in pageantry has taken years of hard work. She entered competitive pageants at the age of 15. She finished as first runner-up at the Miss Georgia Teen USA contest in 2024, followed by a second runner-up finish in 2025. Her path to the national title began in June 2026, when she was appointed Miss Georgia Teen USA through an open casting call organised by the national pageant organisation, according to reports by WALB and Wikipedia.
Reddy’s historic victory highlights the growing representation of Indian Americans in US beauty pageants.
