The cruise ship going from TRNC Kyrenia Port to Mersin Taşucu sank, 12 people died.

The catamaran-type Turkish passenger ship, which was moving from TRNC's Kyrenia Port to Mersin's Taşucu Port on August 30, capsized and sank. 8 people died in the accident and 241 passengers were rescued. During the search and rescue efforts launched for 20 missing passengers, the dead bodies of 4 more people were found. Thus, the number of deaths in the accident increased to 12.

The body of Elmas Demir, one of the passengers whose lifeless body was found after getting lost in the accident, was brought by her relatives to Ankara from TRNC by plane, and from there to her hometown Eskişehir by land.

Abbas Demir, who said that he called his wife around the time of the accident but could not reach her, claimed that the ship's crew left the passengers to die and said, "I talked to my wife around 11.30, she said that she got on the ship. I called around 12.30 and did not receive any news. It was a phone that pulled the phone to the middle of the sea. My nephew came and said that the ship sank. After that, I received news. I saw the ship around 13.00, the ship sank around 15.00. This "They couldn't save people and left them to die," he said.

Elmas Demir's son, Cemal Demir, stated that the discovery of his mother's body made them somewhat happy. Expressing that they are happy that his mother will now have a grave, Cemal Demir said, "My father is with me now, and my mother is with me now. We will throw soil, we will go and love the land. They gave us happiness by finding my mother's body. They listened to our voice, we thank our President from here. It is a sad day, but it is a happy day right now because I wanted my mother. I wanted to go to her land and hug her, I experienced this happy day with the arrival of her funeral."

It was stated that Elmas Demir will be buried at a ceremony to be held during the day.
