Liniker records version of 'Dom de Iludir' for the soundtrack of the Netflix series

♬ Liniker recorded the song “Dom de iludir”, composed by Caetano Veloso in dialogue with the samba-canção “Pra que mentir?”, a song from the exquisite partnership of Noel Rosa (1910 – 1937) with Oswaldo de Almeida Gogliano (1910 – 1962), known as Vadico.

The song “Dom de iludir” was performed in the voice of Maria Creuza in a recording made for the album “Meia noite”, released in 1977, forty years after the creation of “Pra que mentir?”, a song composed in 1937 and released by singer Silvio Caldas (1908 – 1998) on a single released in 1939.

Five years after Maria Creuza's recording, “Dom de iludir” gained the voice of Gal Costa (1945 – 2022) on the album “Minha voz” (1982).

Liniker recorded the song for the soundtrack of an as-yet unreleased Netflix series named after the composition, which was approached by the author Caetano Veloso twice, both in live recordings on the albums “Totalmente demais” (1986) and “Noites do Norte ao vivo” (2001).

“Dom de iludir” is the first song by Caetano Veloso recorded by Liniker, but the two artists already shared the stage in 2025 and, on that occasion, the singer performed a duet with Caetano on the song “Sozinho” (Peninha, 1996).
