Luiss welcomes freshmen with a focus on innovation and dual careers

The welcome ceremony for freshmen took place today at Luiss, the central moment of the week dedicated to the reception and orientation of new students. The event brought together the top management of the university, the professors of the departments and some student-athletes, protagonists of the Italian sporting world, in the Aula Magna.

The event was opened by Rector Paolo Boccardelli who illustrated the University's trajectories: 'Luiss continues to strengthen its educational model, combining scientific rigor with a constant openness to the dynamics of global markets and a strong push towards the internationalization of its training courses. Our mission is to provide our students with the most advanced cognitive tools to develop analytical thinking indispensable for governing major current and future transformation processes.

Among the main innovations is an innovative training offer, characterized by cutting-edge learning models: from the integration of AI in study paths to the partnership with Google for Education, to the certified blockchain modules, which are supported by the two new virtual assistants active since September: the first allows students to orient themselves among the university's services, tenders and administrative procedures, the second to question, investigate and create connections between the teaching materials made available by the teachers.

After the speech by general director Rita Carisano, the FIGC president Giovanni Malagò and four top Luiss athletes spoke: Eloisa Coiro (athletics), Lucrezia Ruggiero (synchronized swimming), Filippo Macchi and Alice Volpi (fencing). 'The meeting - we read in a note from the university - enhanced the Dual Career model, which allows student-athletes to combine high-level competitive activity with a three-year and master's degree course'. This will be followed by the award ceremony for excellent theses.

'Welcoming our young people today means taking on, from the first day of their arrival at Luiss, the responsibility of supporting them in a complete training path, characterized by the solidity of academic preparation integrated by a healthy heritage of values ​​- said the president of the university Giorgio Fossa - Technical skills are, in fact, certainly fundamental, but ethical values, responsibility and team spirit are also needed, to become first of all aware citizens and self-entrepreneurs. It is this synthesis that will make our students ready to lead the society of tomorrow'.
