Early morning shooting causes Volta Redonda to receive reinforcement from Bope and helicopter

On social media and in reports sent by witnesses, ammunition capsules were found scattered across the floor, while gunshot marks pierced the walls of houses and water tanks.

In an official note released this Sunday morning, the City of Volta Redonda clarified that the shooting resulted from an armed attack perpetrated by criminals against military police deployed in the occupation of the Vila Brasília Complex.

In response, the State Government ordered the sending of a third team from the Special Police Operations Battalion (BOPE), the reinforcement of the Dog Action Battalion (BAC) and the deployment of agents from other units in the region to intensify the overt patrolling.

The municipality will also have aerial support from an armored helicopter equipped with a thermal camera, a resource used to detect heat and monitor individuals in areas with complex access.

According to the city hall, the security contingent and air support will arrive in the town over the next few hours. The administration stressed that it will maintain continuous dialogue with public security authorities until normality and citizens' right of movement are reestablished.

So far, there are no reports of injuries or arrests linked to the incident.
