2015 Murder Case Reopened in Manisa

According to the written statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the file, which was initiated after the body of Meral Babacan was found on the Akhisar-Manisa Highway on July 6, 2015 and whose perpetrator could not be identified, was re-examined by the Manisa Provincial Gendarmerie Command, under the coordination of the Gendarmerie General Command's Public Order Department and the Manisa Chief Public Prosecutor's Office.

Within the scope of the studies, it was determined that the plastic piece found at the scene was the side mirror frame of a specific brand and model vehicle. Thereupon, the KGYS records of the day of the incident were re-examined with time and distance measurements.

During the investigation, it was determined that a vehicle compatible with the mirror frame found at the scene was in the area at the time of the incident.

It was determined that the vehicle was sold to another person in Şanlıurfa in 2017. During an interview with the current owner, it was confirmed that the vehicle's side mirror had been replaced in the past.
