Mansur Yavaş's response to resignation allegations: There is no election, our priority is financial difficulties

In response to a question about his resignation from CHP, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş stated that his priority is Ankara, that the financial difficulties in Türkiye and the situation of retirees are overlooked with such discussions, and said, "If anyone informs me on which date the election will be held, I will say something accordingly. There is no election, nothing. I am the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. First of all, I continue my duty. I am trying to complete it in the best possible way."

Ankara Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mansur Yavaş visited the stands set up in the festival area after the opening of the 29th International Beypazarı Festival.

Yavaş then answered journalists' questions. Yavaş said about the festival, "The important thing is to transfer this culture to future generations rather than trade. None of the local dishes we saw were sold in Beypazarı before. People thought: 'We already eat at home, why should we pay money to eat outside?' They were eating other foods. Our own culture was disappearing. Now, since everyone from Ankara or various parts of Türkiye comes to know and taste the culture of this place, we share the food and beauties with the society. We both trade and pass on the same to future generations. Özer President also took it from me: We never call it stuffed vine leaves, we call it stuffed leaves. We don't even want its name to change. Moreover, we strive to ensure that all the ingredients added are the same. "We protect the culture at every stage," he said.

"THERE IS NO ELECTION, THERE IS NOTHING"

Yavaş, reminding that some district mayors also resigned after his resignation from CHP, said the following in response to a question:

"I do not want these issues to be talked about much. The reason is this: If anyone informs me on which date the elections will be held, I will say something accordingly. There is no election, nothing. I am the Mayor of Ankara Metropolitan Municipality. First of all, I continue my duty. I try to complete it in the best possible way. Televisions prefer polemical topics. Meanwhile, there is something that is overlooked. The poverty in the country and the situation of retirees are overlooked. Instead, they like to talk about Mansur Yavaş. The financial difficulties in Türkiye, "The situation of the retirees, one of whom committed suicide. We don't want it to happen like this. I am currently providing regular support to nearly 77 thousand retirees, as I see the situation. This is our priority, we have no other priority. Our priority is the livelihood of the people, Ankara's roads, water, everything."
