At the hearing held by the Istanbul 33rd High Criminal Court in the hall opposite the Marmara Closed Penal Institution, the defense of the defendant businessman Dinçer Kantar, who was not detained, was taken.
Kantar stated that he repeated his previous defenses and requested acquittal.
During his cross-examination, answering the question about the allegation that one of the defendants, Ümit Polat, demanded a gift card, Kantar said, "It was New Year's Eve. He said that they also wanted a gift card from other companies like us during the New Year's Eve. He told us a price. We bought it and delivered it to him. Mr. Ümit called me and called me to his office at Ağaç A.Ş. I went. He said that since it was New Year's Eve, he had such requests from companies. If I remember correctly, he asked for a B***** card from us for around 100 thousand liras. I said so." "I called my partner, Yücel (the defendant), and he prepared it, brought it, and we delivered it to him." he said.
Kantar asked, "For what purpose was 500 thousand liras requested? Did Ümit Polat convey it to you in this way?" In response to the question, "500 thousand lira was requested from us as election aid. Yes, he said it himself. In fact, when I brought it, I called him and he said that it was not there and that I should leave it to Murat Or (the defendant). We delivered it in Saraçhane." he replied. When asked to whom and where he handed over 185 thousand 760 dollars, worth 6 million lira, which is the subject of the indictment, Kantar said, "We handed it over to Hüsnü Yüksel (the defendant). He had an office in Burhaniye. I handed it over there. Before this, I told Ümit Bey that I should ask about it. I asked my father-in-law Ali İhsan. When he got the confirmation, he told me." he said. Kantar asked, "Who did he get that confirmation from?" "General Manager Ali Sukas." He replied:
"ALI SUKAS SAID THAT 6 MILLION LIRAS SHOULD BE DELIVERED TO ERTAN YILDIZ"
The cross-examination was started after the detained defendant businessman Ali İhsan Mengir said that he repeated the statement he gave at the prosecutor's office. The defendant Mengir, asked by the President of the Court, Selçuk Aylan, about his sincerity with Ali Sukas, said that they were very sincere, but they did not have any business.
When the president asked about the tender incident subject to the indictment and his meeting with Ali Sukas, the defendant Mengir stated that he did not know the process fully and gave the following answer: "When I asked who the above person was, he said that the figure would go up, that Ertan Yıldız (the defendant) put a lot of pressure on himself, and that these figures were not related to him. Since the children did not have money, when I declared that they were receivables, the children withdrew the amount of 10 million after a week or 10 days. My children said to me, 'Dad, we will get the money. We handed it over to Hüsnü Yüksel.' they said. Ali Sukas said that 6 million lira of this money should be delivered to Ertan Yıldız through Hüsnü Yüksel."
Defendant Mengir said the following in cross-examination:
"Later, the children also won the tender worth 40 million. In return for the tender worth 40 million, they asked for 5 million liras of money. 2.5 of this in cash and 2.5 in cheques. I delivered the 2.5 million check to Hüsnü Yüksel in his office in Ümraniye. My son Yücel Mengir withdrew 2.5 million from the bank and gave it to me in a bag. At Hüsnü Yüksel's office "I handed over that money to Hüsnü Yüksel in the parking lot opposite." With the defense of 19 undetained defendants being taken at the hearing, the defense of a total of 188 undetained defendants was completed in the case. The hearing was postponed until tomorrow to continue taking the defense statements of the defendants who were not detained.
