FETO Investigation into MASAK's Integrated Financial Intelligence System

Within the scope of the investigation carried out by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office for the crime of 'Political or Military Espionage', investigations were carried out regarding the unauthorized transactions of the Integrated Financial Intelligence System used by the Financial Crimes Investigation Board and the security of the system records.

During the investigation, findings were found that individuals and companies affiliated with FETO's secret structure were influential in the development and maintenance of MASAK's digital infrastructure between 2012 and 2018. It was determined that some partners of the companies were operating at a responsible level in FETO's military, IT, defense industry and Gendarmerie secret structures. It was determined that a significant portion of these people went abroad before or after the July 15 coup attempt.

INFORMATION OF ERDOĞAN, HIS RELATIVES AND MINISTERS WAS QUESTIONED

In the technical investigations carried out on EMIS, it was determined that after the system related to the List of Politically Exposed Persons (PEP) was disabled, interrogations were carried out regarding President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, his relatives and some ministers. There were findings that some system records and data areas may have been intervened later. Additionally, it was determined that no log records were kept to enable retrospective auditing of the transactions of users with administrative authority.

FORMER MASAK CHAIRMAN WAS REFERRED TO ARREST

Within the scope of the investigation, which included 22 suspects, a simultaneous operation was carried out today, based in Istanbul, against 11 suspects in Ankara. 6 suspects, including İnönü Akgün Alp, who served as MASAK Deputy Head of Department at the time of the incident, were detained. It was determined that 16 suspects were abroad. Among the suspects who were referred to the courthouse, İnönü Akgün Alp, Eda Aydoğan, Güner Eke, Zehra Yılmaz were referred to the court with a request for arrest. Judicial control measures were requested for 2 suspects.
