"The Portuguese Football Federation expresses its deepest and endless gratitude to eternal captain Cristiano Ronaldo, who today announced his final farewell to the National Team.

With deep gratitude and great admiration, the Portuguese Football Federation would like to publicly praise and thank Cristiano Ronaldo for his absolutely extraordinary career in the service of our country.

Beyond being an outstanding athlete, our captain was an inspiring leader, an example of dedication and the greatest symbol of the spirit of our National Team.

Throughout his legendary national team career, which included 234 international matches and 146 goals scored, the captain carried the country on his shoulders, broke records and led the team in winning moments that will forever be engraved in the history of national football.

Every drop of sweat, every decisive goal and every captain's armband worn with dignity on the field was a reflection of his unconditional love for our jersey.

His dedication and legacy extends beyond the four lines of the field.

Cristiano Ronaldo glorified Portugal's name and inspired younger generations who dream of following in his footsteps; For many of us he became the greatest player of all time!

That is why the Portuguese Football Federation refuses to allow this farewell to take place without the respect it deserves.

It is our determined and great desire to organize, plan, participate and actively contribute to an honoring event worthy of the tremendous career of Cristiano Ronaldo, where the fans and the country can once again applaud and celebrate the player who gave us so much.

Thanks for everything, CAPTAIN!

This will always be your home!

Let's go to the 1000th goal!!!"
