Diesel Prices Exceeded 100 TL, Şimşek: Low in Türkiye Compared to Europe

As a result of the activity in the fuel market in Turkey, the liter price of diesel has surpassed the psychological limit of 100 TL. Following the increase of approximately 6.5 lira at midnight on September 15, it was decided to add another 4 lira and 60 kuruş to diesel prices with a new update in the markets.

With this latest increase, the pump price of diesel in metropolitan cities such as Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir has exceeded the 100 TL band. While citizens are experiencing difficult times due to increasing transportation and logistics costs, authorities emphasize that fluctuations in global energy markets play a decisive role in these price increases.

Diesel Prices in Metropolitan Cities Exceeded One Hundred Liras

Following the latest price hikes, diesel prices have reached different levels in different regions of Turkey. While the liter price of diesel on the European Side of Istanbul was determined as 100.31 TL, this figure was fixed at 100.19 TL on the Anatolian Side. While the price of diesel fuel reached 101.43 TL in the capital Ankara, it started to be offered for sale in the 101.70 TL band in Izmir. Drivers are concerned about the effects of these rapid changes reflected in fuel stations on daily life.

Minister Şimşek Made Statements Regarding the Implemented Policies

Making evaluations on the subject, Minister of Treasury and Finance Mehmet Şimşek compared fuel prices in Turkey with European countries in a program he attended.

Minister Şimşek stated that the Turkish lira equivalent of 1 liter of diesel fuel is not below 150 TL in many countries in Europe, and that they were able to keep the prices around 100 TL thanks to the tax waiver implemented by Turkey. Emphasizing that the government fulfills its responsibility despite the current difficult global conditions, Şimşek also gave important clues about future economic planning.

Eşel Mobile System Will Not Continue Next Year

Another important point that Minister Şimşek drew attention to was the future of the Ecel mobile system. Şimşek, who announced that Ecel mobile will not continue in the government's budget planning for next year, expressed his wish for the war environment to end. This statement was interpreted as a sign that tax regulations on fuel may follow a different course in the coming period.
