Driver suffers fracture and pneumocephalus after collision on BR-163 that leaves motorcyclist dead

According to a medical bulletin released by the unit's management, the patient was admitted to the trauma department and underwent a computed tomography scan. The examination diagnosed the fracture and pneumocephalus, which is the presence of air in the cranial cavity. Despite the severity of the injuries, his health status is considered stable.

The driver remains under observation under the care of a multidisciplinary team at the hospital and awaits evaluation by a neurosurgeon to determine whether there will be a need for a surgical procedure.

The collision took place on the BR-163 highway, near the Planalto São José community. The car driven by the patient violently hit the back of the motorcycle driven by Almendes Santos de Lima, 60 years old.

With the impact of the crash, Almendes had one of his legs mutilated and died at the scene, before the rescue teams arrived. The driver of the car, who was also injured in the impact, was rescued by witnesses who were passing by on the highway and taken to hospital.
