WHO IS MÜNİR CANAR?

Münir Canar was born on April 22, 1945 in Ankara.

Education and Theater Career

Münir Canar graduated from Ankara State Conservatory, Department of Theater in 1967. In the same year, he started working at Ankara State Theatre. He took part in many theater plays as an actor and director.

In the period 1983-1984, he received the "Best Actor" award from İsmail Dümbüllü and the Art Lovers Association for his work in the play "Kanlı Nigar". In 2014, he was deemed worthy of the "Arts Institution Service Award" within the scope of the Arts Institution Theater Awards.

Traditional Turkish Theater Studies

Münir Canar, one of the important representatives of the medium play today, organized workshops on "Traditional Turkish Theater and Medium Play Technique" in many places, especially in the State Theater regions.

He is a member of UNIMA (International Puppet and Shadow Play Association) and ASSITEJ (International Children's and Youth Theater Association).

Academic Studies

While Münir Canar was working as an actor and director at Antalya State Theatre, he took Traditional Turkish Theater courses at Akdeniz University Theater Department.

While he is currently continuing his personal work as an artist of Adana State Theater, he works as a lecturer in "voice and speech techniques, phonetics, stage (acting)" courses in the Department of Performing Arts of Çukurova University State Conservatory in the Department of Theater and Voice-Opera Singing.

Theater Games

Among the theater works in which Münir Canar took part are "Past Time Olur Ki", "Leblebici Horhor", "Paste Hokkası", "Defence of Socrates" and "Bloody Nigar".

He worked as a writer and director in the play "Geçmiş Zaman Olur Ki", as a director in the plays "Leblebici Horhor" and "Macun Hokkası", as a Korobaşı in the play "Socrates'in Defense", and as a director in the play "Kanlı Nigar".

Television and Cinema Studies

Münir Canar took part in many television projects such as "Kaynanalar", "Beybaba", "Liar Karım", "Fırtına", "Fortune Hunter" and "Türkan" from 1974 to the present. He worked as an actor, voice actor and writer in various television productions and series.

As an actor, he played the character of Yakup in the movie "Eyvah Eyvah", Aziz in the movie "Meddah" and Kerim in the television series "Kaynanalar". In 2011, he appeared in three episodes of the television series "Al Yazılım" as the character Hikmet.

Since 2000, in addition to his personal work, he has provided consultancy, production, directing and studio services within the company he founded. He joined the State Theater family in 2010.
