Germany will provide Patriot missiles to Ukraine

As reported by the Hromadske website, Pistorius announced the decision during the meeting of the Contact Group for the Defense of Ukraine in the Ramstein format. The PAC-2 missiles will be transferred from Bundeswehr warehouses.

The head of the German Ministry of Defense emphasized that the strengthening of Ukrainian anti-aircraft defense should take place before the winter season.

I appeal to all members of the group to check their own stocks and make similar deliveries, Pistorius said. He stressed that countries must strike a balance between their own security needs and urgent support for Ukraine.

More AIM-9 missiles and IRIS-T deliveries

Germany is also to increase the transfer of AIM-9 air-to-air missiles from its resources to Ukraine. Berlin also continues regular deliveries of IRIS-T air defense systems and mass-produced missiles for these sets.

According to Pistorius, Ukraine intends to order several thousand additional missiles for the IRIS-T systems. Financing is to come from a European Union loan.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky previously reported that this year the country received three times fewer anti-ballistic missiles than the year before. The partners allegedly explained the restrictions due to hostilities in the Middle East.

Kyiv recently received a small batch of Patriot missiles. Ukraine also has assurances regarding the supply of several Crotale systems with ammunition, as well as AIM missiles used, among others, by NASAMS sets.
