Norway is preparing to ban trade with Israeli settlements

In his statement to Norwegian broadcaster NRK, Eide said, "Israel was used to intimidating Western countries by blaming them when they were criticized for 'violating human rights'. Now Israel's Teflon coating has disappeared." he said.

Stating that the Norwegian government plans to ban some services as well as trade with Israeli settlements that usurp the occupied Palestinian lands, Eide stated that Western countries have changed their attitudes towards the Israelis who usurped the lands of the Palestinians.

Eide said, "We are preparing a bill that provides for a prison sentence of up to 3 years for those who do business with Israeli settlements that usurp occupied Palestinian lands. Thus, we aim to prevent the provision of economic support to these settlements." he said.

NRK noted that the draft law will be presented to the Norwegian Parliament in the coming months.

12 countries, including England, France, Norway and Canada, announced on September 8 that they decided to ban trade with Israeli settlements that usurped occupied Palestinian lands.
