New support for local governments for security purposes

The agreement is to be signed on Thursday morning. The Union of Polish Towns is a nationwide organization associating small towns, urban-rural and rural communes.

Additional money for municipalities with no more than 80,000 inhabitants. residents, it will be possible to spend, for example, on the construction of shelters, power generators and training on how to behave in a crisis situation.

The new program is to be addressed to local governments from all over Poland, not only from the eastern part of the country.

Another initiative of the Polish government to strengthen security is, among others, irrigation of areas that could become a natural obstacle for enemy troops. Urszula Zielińska, the Deputy Minister of Climate and Environment, recently spoke about this in an afternoon conversation on RMF FM. The politician was asked about the contribution of her ministry to the green part of the so-called Shield East. This year, the Ministry has PLN 0.5 billion available for the above-mentioned irrigation.

We are waiting for projects from local governments, institutions and non-governmental organizations until the end of September. We already have signals that these projects will probably exceed the allocation of half a billion zlotys. We are also ready to increase it, said Zielińska.
