Oaxaca promotes cultural tourism in Rome with traditional performances and gift to the Pope

Oaxaca presented its cultural offer in Rome to win over new European visitors. The delegation, led by Undersecretary of Tourism Development Mariel López Villatoro, organized traditional performances in the Vatican City and in the center of the capital. "There is a lot of potential for growth: currently we do not exceed 10 thousand Italian presences per year and for this reason we are strengthening the promotion of the territory", explained the local government representative, who also delivered a handcrafted gift to Pope Leo XIV at the end of the public hearing.

The initiative involved 50 people, including dancers and the Tlaxiaco children's symphony band, with the aim of highlighting the 16 native communities and the Afro-Mexican tradition.

The mezcal routes and beaches of the region are easily accessible thanks to three international airports. On the sidelines of the meetings, Aeroméxico's market manager, Antonella Favarone, recalled that a direct connection from Milan will be activated from March 2027. "With this route we are relaunching the bridge between Europe and Mexico", he underlined.
