Works are interrupted to preserve the nest of green curiquinhas in buriti in Palmas

According to the municipality, although there was a determination to conserve the tree, it ended up dying during the works. The team was already preparing to carry out the removal when an inspection by Mayor Wagner Rodrigues (União) identified that the hollow structure of the buriti tree was being used by a couple of green curiquinhas to build a nest and expand their family.

According to the city hall, the works will be maintained, but with special care. In relation to the flowerbed — the roundabout where the buriti with the nest was found — work will only resume after the chicks complete the growth cycle and leave the nest safely.

The municipal administration also informed that it will plant seedlings at the site and guaranteed that native trees will form a preservation forest, creating a favorable environment for fauna and future offspring.

The nest site is within the complex where the Nascentes do Neblina Park will be located. According to the city hall, the park will have a planned area of ​​300 thousand m² and will be a Conservation Unit, implemented with the aim of protecting and recovering water resources, soil and genetic resources, mainly permanent preservation areas (APPs), springs and other bodies of water.

According to the municipality, there will be three fenced modules, with the roundabout located between two of them.
