Murder in Tito: son kills mother Maria Vittoria Carbone

It was her son who killed, with a series of blows to the face, Maria Vittoria Carbone, aged 57, in Tito (Potenza). For the young man, Giampiero Santamaria, aged 31, followed by the Mental Health Center of Potenza, the charge is murder. After a very long interrogation, in which the Public Prosecutor, Camillo Falvo, also participated, the man confessed. The woman, also followed by social services, was visiting her son's home, in an apartment adjacent to that of her father and ex-husband, where there was apparently a violent argument.

"It is a tragedy that has profoundly shaken our community and that draws attention to a condition of fragility which, in this specific case, had already encountered a path of health care and more and which today requires us to reflect on something that cannot be limited to the emotion of the moment. We must learn, every day, to recognise, understand and deal with those situations of discomfort and fragility that can develop even within the home, often away from the eyes of others": said the mayor of Tito, Fabio Laurino, after Maria's murder Vittoria Carbone. "Only through shared responsibility - he concluded - can we build that solidarity network that is talked about so much, but which too often stops at words, slogans and the lowest institutional level".
