Murder in Udine: Mohamed Koufi confesses to the killing of Abdellatif Bensefiyan

Mohamed Koufi, 32 years old, Moroccan citizen, confessed to the murder of his compatriot Abdellatif Bensefiyan, 65 years old, brother of his ex-partner, killed on Friday evening in Udine in via Castions di Strada in the Sant'Osvaldo district. The man was tracked down and stopped by the police on Saturday afternoon near the Basiliano train station and admitted his responsibilities during interrogation in front of the prosecutor and in the presence of his lawyer. The motive, still being investigated, would be linked to the end of a romantic relationship between Koufi and the victim's sister. The Prosecutor's Office disputes, for now, the voluntary homicide but evaluates the aggravating circumstances of premeditation and futile motives.

During the searches, some clues were found, including a backpack with knives and a wig, abandoned not far from the site of the attack. Bensefiyan, known as Abdul, lived with family members in the Ater buildings in Sant'Osvaldo. In the next few hours, the hearing to validate the arrest of the 32-year-old and the autopsy on the victim's body will be scheduled, also to allow us to precisely identify what the murder weapon was: next to the dying body of the 65-year-old there was a screwdriver stained with blood.
