Özel made a statement to the press during the break in the hearing. Özel said that they followed the hearing together with the families of those who lost their lives in the attack and those who were injured.
Stating that Turkey was the scene of many terrorist attacks in the period between the parliamentary general elections held on June 7, 2015 and November 1, 2015, Özgür Özel said, "As if a button was pressed, there were many massacres with bomb attacks and suicide bombings of various terrorist organizations, especially ISIS. They first crossed the border, started from Gaziantep and moved to Ankara, against 104 innocent people who were searched at the barriers for a previously informed and authorized rally." This is a massacre caused by 2 suicide bombers who came without any search, identity check or traffic control until they reached the heart of the city. Of course, there are people who have been convicted. Now, one of the fugitives is in Kırşehir Prison and he was supposed to be tried face to face. He did not come here by using a remote connection. Bringing him to court as soon as possible and immediately starting the trial of the person who is thought to be one of the organizers and planners of the massacre are among the concrete demands of the families today," he said.
Stating that the responsible public officials should be tried, Özgür Özel said, "Two main issues need to be underlined.
