Parma sacks Carlos Cuesta after the victory over Genoa

The victory over Genoa seemed to have consolidated Carlos Cuesta's bench but instead, a week later, the Spanish coach and Parma parted ways. With a note the ducal club speaks of a "shared decision" explaining that "following an internal discussion between the club and the coach, it was agreed that there were no longer the conditions between the parties to continue the professional relationship, in particular regarding the development of the sporting project".

It is the third bench to fail in Serie A in the first five matchdays, a bolt from the blue for many, even if rumors of a possible divorce had already emerged in the summer, despite the quiet salvation of the past year. Two days before the match against Genoa, Cuesta had withdrawn from the Open Festival, where he was announced as a speaker, a clue to the heavy climate that was already being felt at Parma.

The now former Crociati coach greets on social media "I gave my all", thanks the club, fans and players ("we were a family" dedication to the team) and confirms: "unfortunately there are no longer the conditions to continue". Diversity of views, it seems: on the one hand, an atypical and pragmatic Spanish coach, on the other, a club that for two years has fielded the youngest squad in the championship and is asking for a leap in quality in terms of play. A move hoped for several times in the summer and soon put aside after the defeats at the beginning of the season.

Monday's training will be "entrusted to the club's technical staff" Parma says, with the full successor in the background: Gilardino (former yellow-blue centre-forward) and Tudor are the first names to emerge, but D'Aversa (a former player) and Zanetti are also on the list, without excluding the possibility of Corrent, current Primavera coach. After Chivu and Cuesta, it would be the third consecutive debutant on the Crociati bench. The chosen one will be the eighth coach in seven seasons of the stars and stripes ownership by Kyle Krause.
