Canela Space Adventure Park will broadcast NASA telescope launch

The theme park dedicated to space exploration will broadcast images of the takeoff of the Nancy Grace Roman space telescope for free on a large screen installed in the outdoor area.

The launch is scheduled for 8:26 am, Brasília time. The screening starts at 8am.

According to Space Adventure Canela's Marketing Manager, Paula da Luz, the broadcast will show not only the moment of takeoff, but also all the movement that precedes the event.

🚀👩‍🚀 Canela's Space Adventure Park is licensed by NASA and brings together original items from space missions such as costumes, tools, photographs and objects used by astronauts, in addition to promoting events linked to the United States special exploration agency.

Named in honor of NASA's first chief astronomy officer, the Nancy Grace Roman telescope was developed to help scientists investigate some of the biggest challenges in modern astronomy. Among the objectives of the mission are studies of dark matter and dark energy, in addition to the search for thousands of exoplanets.

One of the main features of the equipment is the ability to observe extensive areas of the sky in a single image, allowing the construction of a broad map of the universe.

The telescope will also have a field of view that will make it possible to record space regions at a much higher rate than Hubble, launched in 1990. It is expected to act in a complementary way to the James Webb telescope, sent into space in 2021.

To reach its destination, the Nancy Grace Roman will be launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket. After takeoff, it will head to a region located approximately 1.5 million kilometers from Earth, where conditions are considered suitable for space observations.

Known for bringing together one of NASA's largest collections outside the United States, Space Adventure Canela has more than 270 items linked to the history of space exploration, including original pieces and replicas.

Among the attractions are an experience that simulates the launch towards the Moon, an elevator that reproduces the climb to the top of a rocket and a recreation of the Houston control room, responsible for coordinating the Apollo missions.

The complex also houses a planetarium showing a film produced by the New York Museum of Natural History in partnership with NASA, narrated by actress Sônia Braga. In total, the park has nine themed environments aimed at exploring the universe.
