Mass fight in Lleida with one detainee and four injured

A mass fight that occurred this Saturday around 10:00 p.m. on Avenida Rosa Parks in Lleida has ended with one detainee and at least three injured by stab weapons, the Lleida Urban Guard has confirmed to La Vanguardia. None of the three injured – two minors and one adult – are seriously injured, although the adult was transferred to the Arnau hospital in Vilanova. Mossos d'Esquadra adds a fourth injured, this one due to blows.

The fight pitted a group of Pakistanis, regulars in the area, against another group of various nationalities. According to the sources consulted, discussions between ethnic groups in that area are common, but they had not reached this extreme. On Saturday night, a group of Pakistanis showed up in the area armed with knives and other objects, which gave rise to the mass fight that ended with the three mentioned wounded by knives.

The Urban Police and Mossos explain that about 100 people were present in the area at that time, but specify that not all of them participated in the brawl. Alerted by the situation, the Urban Police took charge of the operation, which had the support of ARRO units of the Mossos d'Esquadra. These units remain in the area (Balàfia/Barris Nord of the capital of Lleidetana) to guarantee security and will do so at least throughout Sunday.
