Wife of General Secretary and President To Lam and wife of President of Myanmar visit Van Phuc silk village

Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, wife of General Secretary and President To Lam, and wife of the President of Myanmar visited Van Phuc silk village, experienced silk bracelet making and enjoyed tea.

On September 5, the two ladies went to the Craft Ancestor Temple, which preserves memories of the more than 1,000-year-old silk weaving roots of Van Phuc silk village in Ha Dong ward, Hanoi.

At the craft village, Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly and Ms. Kyu Kyu Hla and students whose families are weaving experienced silk threading and visited ancient looms and precious artifacts of the village.

Ms. Kyu Kyu Hla, wife of Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing, said the loom made her feel very close and familiar, because looms have been a part of the lives of Myanmar people for thousands of years. From those looms, fabrics and silk were born, creating traditional Myanmar htamein and paso.

The wife of the General Secretary and President shared that Vietnam and Myanmar are both famous for traditional crafts, especially silk weaving. Women from both countries are not only skillful in creating exquisite silk, but also preserve and pass down enduring cultural beauty over time.

According to Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly, the two countries not only have similarities in weaving but are also contributing to beautifying and enriching the cultural values ​​of each side through exchanges and sharing of experiences.

The lady cited lotus silk, a product of Myanmar's creativity, which was imported to Vietnam to become ao dai to honor the beauty of Vietnamese women.

The two ladies then visited a silk weaving facility, a center for preserving and developing silk products. Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly said that the craft village currently has more than 200 households, contributing to helping Vietnamese silk enter modern life both domestically and internationally.

At Vun Art Cooperative, where more than 40 special workers are bringing recycled silk pieces to life into composite silk paintings, two ladies expressed their emotions, visited and encouraged those present.

Ms. Kyu Kyu Hla, who used to be a university lecturer, hopes to come to Vun Art every time she has the opportunity to come to Vietnam. The wife of the President of Myanmar also sent a gift in return when the cooperative offered to donate her favorite products.

Enjoying tea with Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly after the visit, Ms. Kyu Kyu Hla wished to have more opportunities to exchange and share about the cultural beauties of the two countries. Ms. Ngo Phuong Ly expressed her thanks, sharing culture is a language without borders, connecting people to people and looking forward to seeing Ms. Kyu Kyu Hla again soon.

The activities of the two wives took place within the framework of the official visit to Vietnam by Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing. This is his first visit to Vietnam after Myanmar completed the general election in January and established a new government, and is the highest-level exchange of delegations between the two sides since 2019.

In a meeting this morning with the President of Myanmar, General Secretary and President To Lam expressed his willingness to share experiences in developing the country and strengthen cooperation in all fields with Myanmar.
