Pizzaiolo shot in the head by Security Present police officer has organs donated in Niterói

Danilo Jander Francisco Alves, the pizza maker who died brain dead after being shot in the head by a Security Present agent during an approach in Niterói, had his donated organs collected this Wednesday (16) by RJ Transplantes, informed the State Department of Health.

According to the agency, the heart, liver, pancreas, kidneys and tissues were captured.

Danilo died on Tuesday (15) after being shot in the head during a police approach by Security Presente agents on Rua Mariz e Barros, in Icaraí, Niterói, on Saturday (12). He was brain dead.

Family members were emotional when commenting on the decision to authorize transplants.

"He always said to me, he was always my best friend and he always said to me: 'Mom, I will always help people. If one day I die, donate my organs, please. Let me save people. Let me help those in need'", said Débora Maciel Francisco, Danilo's mother.

Employees at Azevedo Lima Hospital, also in Niterói, made a point of applauding the family's decision.

The police officer who shot him was arrested red-handed.

In testimony, one of the police officers stated that he and a colleague were patrolling the region when they saw the man on a motorcycle. According to the agent, the motorcyclist went through the red light, was traveling at high speed and ended up rearing the motorcycle.

The agents then followed the boy. Traffic caused him to stop, and one of the officers claimed to have used pepper spray against the motorcyclist.

According to the police officer, he saw Danilo reach for his waist, pulled out his gun and, as he disembarked from the motorcycle, there was a shot. The agent stated that the shot was unintentional and hit the motorcyclist in the head.

Witness says boy raised his hands

One witness, however, presented another version. She said she saw the police surround the motorcycle and that the boy stopped and raised his hands. According to her, one of the agents used pepper spray against the motorcyclist and, almost immediately, the other fired a shot.

The witness also stated that he did not notice any suspicious behavior from the motorcyclist before the approach. People who were at the scene say that Danilo worked as an app delivery man.

After the shooting, the police searched the motorcyclist and, according to the statement of one of the agents, no illicit objects were found on him.

According to the police, there was a crowd of people and tension in the area and, therefore, it was necessary to use pepper spray to ward off people who were approaching.

According to the Niterói, São Gonçalo and Itaboraí Homicide Police Station (DHNSG), witnesses were interviewed and images from security cameras were analyzed. Investigations continue to fully determine all the facts.

The Security Presente Press Office reported that the soldier responsible for the shooting was arrested and taken to the Corporation's prison unit and that the Internal Affairs Department is monitoring the case.
