Police find body and armed suspect after report of kidnapping in forest area

Victim in the trunk of a car: the action began after the Military Police Special Actions Battalion (Baep) received a report that four armed men had placed a person in the trunk of a red car. During the search, police found the vehicle abandoned in the middle of the woods.

As they approached, the police were met with gunfire and retaliated, according to information from Baep. Two shots hit the vehicle and one of them hit a Military Police (PM) lieutenant in the abdomen, but the shot was contained by the bulletproof vest. The officer did not suffer serious injuries.

The injured man had a rifle and a revolver: with the arrival of reinforcements, the team searched the area and found a suspect who had been shot, who was carrying a rifle and a revolver. Next to him was a dead man, his hands and feet tied.

According to Baep, this second victim is probably the person who had been kidnapped. The victim's documents were inside the red car. The body has not yet been identified.

In the same area, police discovered a grave and a buried body in an advanced state of decomposition.

The site had structures similar to graves, evidence that, according to the PM, reinforces the suspicion of the existence of a clandestine cemetery, according to the police.
